Oso, his history and how he became ours

el Oso, our turquoise monster’s name, means The Bear in Spanish, and a great big brute of a bear he is too!  Built back in an era when machinery was built strong, solid and simple… even for his 50 years he is still described as the best vehicle of his type in the world. Before buying him the previous owners compared Oso to a Unimog, choosing the reliable Magirus Deutz over the weaker geared Mog. The applications for this versatile vehicle are phenominal.  Built at a time when German engineering was restricted post ww2, he was not marketed as a military vehicle, but a multi use all terrain utility truck, fire trucks, tractors, fifth wheels, ambulances etc, the utility parts simply bolt on and off ( we’ll see how simple….).  He has  permanent 4 wheel drive and obvious army capabilities with a  71/2 ton payload to boot.
